Reports continue to roll in from across the country about giant bucks killed during the 2015-16 season, even from states where the season’s been closed for weeks.

Such is the way today’s social media and reporting is done. But when it’s a truly gigantic buck that finds its way into the record book, it’s no surprise the news will get out quickly!

The latest is from Wisconsin, where John Kassera’s massive buck he arrowed Nov. 5, 2015, has been certified by the Wisconsin Buck and Bear Club as the state bow record. It’s a truly gorgeous buck and we tip our hat to this longtime hunter. Here’s the report from the WBBC about his deer:

At approximately 2:55 pm on Thursday November 5, 2015 a huge buck was cruising a steep hillside in a region commonly referred to as The Driftless Area in West Central Wisconsin. Seventy-five yards away archer John Kassera, with 50 years of experience, sat patiently waiting on this warm breezy afternoon. The La Crosse County 5×5, on a trail upwind of the hunter, was arrowed at 20 yards. The wounded buck crashed downhill passing under the hunters stand and out of sight. After a brief wait John took the trail, and found the buck on a logging road near the bottom of the hill. John’s “back 40” had produced some fine hunting memories in the past, but nothing quite like this!

On Saturday January 23rd the buck was panel measured and a net score of 193 4/8” was established surpassing last year’s state record harvested in Dodge County. With a gross score of 201 5/8” the Kassera Buck has main beams of 30 6/8” & 30 5/8”. Over 42 inches of mass and 5 tines over 11” help push this buck to the top of the record book.

The Wisconsin Buck & Bear Club congratulates John Kassera on his tremendous whitetail and welcomes him into the WBBC record book.
