It’s often stated that great products sell themselves. This may be true, but regardless of how good something is there’s always room for further improvement and innovation. That’s precisely the idea behind Ameristep’s feature-packed and popularly-priced Crush Silencer Blind – a new-for-2016 offering from the ground-blind-gurus.
Ameristep pros Lee and Tiffany Lakosky get in close to game week in and week out on their hit Outdoor Channel show, Crush with Lee and Tiffany, and ground blinds are important tools in their arsenal. The power hunting couple recently made a list of things they’d like to see in a ground blind and passed it on to the experts at Ameristep. The design engineers worked down that golden list, waved their wand (okay, that’s a literary metaphor for a lot of research, testing and high-tech engineering stuff), and Lee and Tiffany’s ultimate hunting blind emerged.
The new-for-2016, Crush Silencer Blind lives up to its name, featuring mesh screens and window covers that work on Ameristep’s innovative Silent Slide Track System, which means no more sounds of zippers and Velcro shattering the early morning stillness and sounding alarm bells to nearby game. The door does have a full-length double zipper to seal the blind off when not in use, but the Crush Silencer has a sound-killing trick up its sleeve: A fabric flap surrounding the door can be quickly fastened to the blind’s fiber poles with a clever, silent clip system to seal and secure the door when the blind is occupied. This provides the hunter with complete concealment, scent containment and protection from the elements without using the zipper.
Employing Ameristep’s split-window curtain design, the Crush Silencer’s window openings can be customized like never before. Open just half of each window cover or the entire thing, depending on desired concealment and visibility. Each full or half window can also be opened partially, or all the way, providing more or less visibility and concealment depending on what the hunter desires and what the situation dictates. Most importantly, these adjustments can be made in total silence and without zippers, courtesy of the Silent Slide Track System.
Shoot-through mesh windows? Yeah, the Crush Silencer has them, but not all hunters are keen on using them. That’s why this top-performing blind also boasts integrated mesh shooting ports. These handy holes give hunters another option during the moment of truth.
A hunting blind is only as good as its bones, and the backbone of the Crush Silencer Blind is the unbreakable Spider Hub System. While the die-cast hubs employed in competing products are notorious for failure at the wrong time, Ameristep’s Spider Hub System is essentially bombproof and failure free. The two-piece stamped metal hub design is virtually indestructible, and assures that this hunting blind will perform without fail.
The outer shell is equally up to task, comprised of Ameristep’s proprietary Durashell Plus fabric – a dull, woven polyester material that is non-reflective, relatively lightweight, and makes possible the highest quality screen printing in the industry. Its soft, brushed finish is also extremely quiet. A stealthy, black Shadow Guard fabric coating on the inside won’t reflect light and assures that occupants are well concealed. And speaking of concealment, the Crush Silencer is adorned with two rows of sewn-in brush loops on all four sides for the easy application of supplemental camouflage utilizing local vegetation – not that its Realtree Xtra camouflage finish needs it.
