Achieving a well-balanced hunting machine requires a good mix of speed and accuracy. The CAMX 330 crossbow provides ample arrow speed and sufficient kinetic energy to kill anything walking in North America.
The 330 delivers a 410-grain hunting arrow at an honest 330 fps (w/100.3 ft./lbs. of kinetic energy) with uncanny out-of-the-box accuracy. While on a recent Texas hunt, I was able to put the CAMX design to the test — and it performed flawlessly.

Twin cams apply power to the stout, solid limbs. At first blush, shooters will notice the less than radically parallel limbs. By design, these significantly reduce the acute string angles seen on parallel-oriented limbs. This introduces a “forgiving” string angle, offering minimal string-to-arrow-nock pinch, which ultimately leads to a welcomed ease of cocking. In fact, the 330 is easily cocked by hand at a very reasonable 180 pounds of draw weight.
In addition to being easily cocked, the CAMX330 design offers the ability to unload the crossbow without the need to discharge it. The rope cocker doubles as a de-cocking device — a slick one at that. By attaching the rope cocker to the string and then around the stock, the anti-dry fire device is defeated and the bow can be easily let down.
A monoblock scope bridge and steel scope rings offer unparalleled support, eliminating “scope walk.” The CAMX scope is designed for crossbow use and is factory calibrated to the bow’s performance curve (by graduating the reticle to match the bow’s performance), which eliminates guesswork when holding over.
Each bow is hand-built and tuned with four arrows (which it ships with) that are within 1⁄2-grain of each other. Bows do not leave the factory unless they can hold 1-inch groups at 20 yards.
“We designed our bows to be accurate; that’s what a CAMX customer expects,” said CAMX design engineer David Choma. “Most rifle hunters are accustomed to 1-inch groups at 100 yards, so why would we want to deliver anything less at bowhunting distances?”
