Looks like the angst between deer hunters and state wildlife agency biologists may not be quiet this year after a reduction in licenses and changes to hunting seasons.
A recent meeting of the Pennsylvania Game Commissioners saw the board reduce the number of antlerless licenses by more than 59,000 for the upcoming season. It also changed the season dates in two public hunting areas.
These deer wars will continue for several reasons, one being that no matter what a state wildlife agency does it never will make everyone happy. Whether it’s a proposal about use of suppressors, the number of licenses for deer, squirrel season being extended into spring or some bag limit being reduced or expanded, there’s going to be a group that’s unhappy about it.
