The Buckeye Firearms Association announced grades and endorsements for candidates running for office in the 2012 Ohio general election.
BFA, a grassroots, non-partisan, all-volunteer political action committee, graded more than 250 candidates on their support for gun rights in Ohio. Of these, 109 candidates earned their highly coveted official endorsement. These include candidates running for the U.S. House and Senate, Ohio Supreme Court, Ohio Senate, Ohio House, Court of Appeals, Sheriff, and other offices.
“The Second Amendment is a cornerstone of our individual rights in the United States and here in Ohio,” said Jim Irvine, Chairman of Buckeye Firearms Association. “That’s why we put so much effort into our candidate grades and issue our endorsements with great care. Citizens get the public servants they deserve. So if you want to protect your Second Amendment rights, you have to vote for candidates who understand and respect those rights.”
BFA is the primary grassroots voice for gun owners in Ohio. By supporting pro-gun legislators and working with them to enact many “pro-gun” state laws, the political action committee has proven its ability to move meaningful legislation that brings real benefits to all Ohio citizens.
In addition, their many thousands of highly loyal, vocal, and active grassroots supporters give endorsed candidates an edge in elections. Ohio candidates have taken notice and now actively seek out BFA’s endorsement.
“We don’t give out endorsements lightly,” said Linda Walker, BFA Central Ohio Chair and NRA Board Member. “In fact, we don’t ‘give’ endorsements at all. Candidates have to ‘earn’ our endorsement. That means they have to vote for our bills and prove themselves. We hold candidates accountable.”
Buckeye Firearms Association offers endorsed candidates a wide range of assistance, including help with fundraising, publicizing events, driving volunteer support, and voter education.
