Sentencing was administered to a young poacher for killing approximately 40 deer last autumn and winter just because he wanted to do it.
Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources officials say Joshua D. Peterson, of Mondovi, killed almost 40 deer with a rifle and let them lay where they died. He did this last autumn and winter. Officials said he also had a juvenile accomplice, who was unidentified because of age.
The poaching took place in Buffalo County, Wis., near Mondovi.
Peterson received a sentence of six weeks in jail. He also lost his Wisconsin DNR privileges for six years and was fined more than $3,700.
