A Virginia county is considering the use of dogs to hunt deer, but the tradition will be on the autumn hunting schedule at least one more time.
Officials in Accomack County are considering options about the hunting tradition, according to this report. It said that county attorney Mark Taylor has recommended that a public hearing be held this summer or next summer about whether a ban should be implemented.
It would take changes in Virginia’s hunting regulations to implement a ban. Efforts to ban the practice could not be implemented until at least 2014, if the county chose to pursue that route
The last time the county considered a ban was 10 years ago. This time, after three residents complained earlier this year, the board said it would consider the issue again.
