Hey, all you folks in the Northeast and upper Midwest freezing your tookuses (tooki?) off this weekend … how about a nice, hot bowl of venison chili?
Well, guess what? Here’s a simple, quick and easy recipe for Grilled Deer Chili straight out of one of Deer & Deer Hunting‘s most popular cookbooks, “We Kill It, We Grill It.” It has 126 pages packed with information and recipes – mostly recipes! – for everything from roasts to marinades.
Grilled Deer Chili
- 2 lb deer burger, cooked on the grill
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 package chili seasoning
- 2 quarts stewed tomatoes
- Jane’s Krazy Mixed-up Salt & Pepper, to taste
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp garlic
- Shredded cheddar cheese
Brown onions in large stock pot. Add grilled burger (busted into bite-sized pieces). Salt and pepper to taste. Add chili seasoning, stewed tomatoes and seasonings. Let simmer about one hour. Top will cheese. (Recipe submitted by Mary Conley)
