I fired up my 4-wheeler and took the dogs for our daily run around our sacred swamp again this morning. I strapped on my Glock pistol and loaded up my 12 gauge shotgun and .22 rifle in hopes of bagging a few bushytails for the pot.
We cruised up and down the spectacular fall woodland trails, in and out of the gooey marsh, down along the beautiful river course and into no-man’s land wherever my wanderlust took me.
Happy, my Labrador/Catahoula hunting maniac treed a hidden fox squirrel in the thick, colorful canopy, and his relentless barking and howling finally provoked the furry rodent to expose itself and I was able to snipe it off a towering oak limb.
We continued our wild-ground adventure, filling deer-feeders, checking fence, checking and resetting traps, clearing trails, feeding treestand sites and just cleansing our souls in the great outdoors on another wonderful, stimulating, effervescent autumn day.
I cut up a fallen tree into nice fireplace size logs, and then we headed back to our little log cabin for a hot breakfast with Shemane, a few phonecalls, a little SpiritWild writings, and just continuing this glorious American Dream of freedom and liberty.
As I wallow in this precious and unique American freedom-dream during our beloved hunting season, I never lose sight how such quality of life got here, and how fragile it is. This unique American freedom should never be taken for granted, and all Americans should think about it and cherish it every day.
I own my own private hunting property. I own many firearms and carry one on my person for self-protection and various responsibilities every day. I drive my off-road vehicles wherever and whenever I so chose. I kill the fish and game on my property to feed my family, friends and neighbors based on the annual sustain yield science that we the people designed ourselves in defiance of the history of the king owning the game.
My family and I practice and train with our firearms daily. We manage our private grounds for maximum productivity, balance and bio-diversity health and harvest the renewable resources that we own accordingly.
I conduct numerous media interviews and write for many publications speaking my mind freely, exercising my 1st Amendment rights to the best of my ability every day.
I communicate with my elected employees on a regular basis to demand Constitutional accountability from them with no compromise.
Reminded that freedom is not free by the hero warriors of the US military that I share very special campfires with on a regular basis, and being involved in numerous charities giving back to them for their sacrifices, the cost for this freedom is compelling and inescapable.
As October winds down and we celebrate the most exciting hunting time of the year, the very least every American deerhunter can do to earn and preserve these awe inspiring freedoms is to be certain we are registered and we get out there and vote.
This 2016 presidential election is without a doubt the most crucial presidential election in my 68 year lifetime. The glaring difference between the democratic candidate and the republican candidate could not be more stark or scary.
The freedoms we cherish and live every day are at stake.
This sacred experiment in self-government demands each and every we the people citizens perform our most basic and important responsibility:
