Happy Veterans Day, Everyday!

Wow! NugeBlog#114 already! The old backstrappin’ guitarplayer just keeps on hammerin’ on don’t I!

You’re darn right I do, because I am inspired beyond words every day of my life by the superior humanity that I am privileged and honored to hang out with, reminded constantly that freedom is not free, and how the American Dream is epitomized by the deerhunting lifestyle.

Private property rights, the right to keep and bear arms, the fact that the wildlife does not belong to the king, but rather belongs to “we the people” are all uniquely American rights guaranteed by the US Constitution and supported, enforced and fought and died for by the hero warriors of the US  Military.

As the Nugent deerhunting camp throttles on with the nonstop effervescent goodwill, joy, campfires, backstraps, laughter and cheer celebrated daily with family and friends, we never fail to take a moment to remember that though the season itself, and the rut most emphatically accentuates the month of November, this week is as special as it gets because we just celebrated the 240th anniversary of the U.S. Marine Corps and another Veterans’ Day. I believe that without these two events, there would be no deerhunting, freedom, individual rights or the American Dream itself.

Not a day goes by in my very blessed life that I don’t hang out with or at least communicate with heroes of the U.S. Military and their families, and we should all take the extra time during our precious deerseason to remember them and reach out to a US military member, their family or any one of the great charities out here to give back to those who fight and die for our freedoms.

That these men and woman allow me into their lives is one of the greatest gifts I have been humbled to receive in life, and I do all I can to earn my freedoms by giving back to the best of my ability.

I took a day off the other day to participate in the Patriots Ball in Akron, Ohio, where professional doctors have donated their services to assist the heroes through their various rehabilitations. I was presented with a phenomenal custom shotgun by Pat Harrington and his amazing Shotgun Blasters gunshop (ShotgunBlasters.com) in Carrollton, Texas.

Being surrounded by the brave warriors that night, I couldn’t help myself and donated this one of a kind shotgun back to the fundraiser auction. As usual, a fellow hunter generously donated $10,000 for it with the proceeds going to help the warriors and their families.

Thanks to the many numerous, wonderful military charities out here, there are hunting camps all across the country right now where military heroes, many of whom have sustained serious injuries on our behalf, are sitting in deerblinds, cleansing their souls and escaping the conditions they have endured fighting for our rights and freedoms.

Having had the honor to share many deerhunting camps with these special men and women, I know for a fact that when on the hunt, the pain and suffering they have endured is at least diminished, and at best, temporarily non-existent, because that’s what this pure, natural, primal scream of deerhunting can do for us all.

Happy 240th Birthday to the U.S. Marine Corps and Happy Veterans Day everyday to the hero warriors of the United States military who sacrifice, fight, bleed and die for us all.

Here are just a few great military charities and organizations that help the heroes and their families and deserve any donation we can afford. Freedom is not free and those who provide it deserve the most.
