Hours and hours of practice pays off during deerseason!
Hours and hours of practice pays off during deerseason!

Wow! January 8, 2015, you don’t say! Wildtimes are here to stay everyday all the way I would say let us pray. Of course that is what I said way back in January of 1965 too, and every year since, of that I am certain. And what exactly is the alternative to wildtimes; boring times? No thank you. Not a prayer.

When it comes to real honest to God, good, clean, legal, natural, organic, environmentally sound, wholesome, spiritually invigorating ultraFUN wildtimes, I do not believe there is anything anywhere anytime any more wonderfully a wildtime than deerhunting, and to all of you smart enough to get it and live it, I offer a voluminous yet humble Uncle Ted congratSALUTE, attaboy, way to go Godspeed!

As we here at the Nugent ranch jettison furiously into 2015, celebrating more than 25 years of Ted Nugent Spirit of the Wild television, we wish to sincerely thank you all for making our televised promotion and celebration of our cherished outdoor lifestyle the #1 hunting show in the world. How cool is that?

There is so much good to celebrate on a daily basis here in America that oftentimes we get caught up in so much good that we fail to see the bad and ugly that so often gets in the way of our upgrading the good from just good to great!

Doe? Buck? Spike? Giant nontypical? Hunters have a variety of choices and should be able to make their own decisions.

Which brings me to the subject matter of this, my 2nd NugeBlog for 2015 and 71st NugeBlog now at deeranddeerhunting.com.

UPGRADE!!  The battlecry of dedicated quality of life upgraders everywhere.

Stagnancy and allthings status quo kind of leave me weak. Well actually on the contrary as that old colloquialism is a perfect example of what I’m saying here, because those things don’t actually leave me weak, they inspire me to fix stupid things, torch stagnancy and crush status quo at every opportunity.

So that’s what we’re going to do together, shall we.

First order of business; change course in the archery industry to quit with the hyper velocity nonsense and remove the self-inflicted engineered obstacle course for new bowhunters.

In the year 2014, as I have for more than 20 plus years, I guided and or shared campfires with more than 100 hunters and their assorted family members. I don’t know if anyone else has been blessed with such a wonderful experience, but I would like to hear from you if you have spent more time with more hunters than I do. Communication is the key to everything worthwhile.

The feedback I get from these very open, uninhibited, friendly campfire communications are to my way of thinking the greatest hunter communications in the world.

We’re talking real down to earth, working hard, playing hard, hunting hard American hunters from every persuasion, walk of life and socio-economic lifestyle.

Get kids involved and get them outdoors!
Get kids involved and get them outdoors!

If I have to hear another kid or gal say; “I really want to bowhunt, but I can’t pull back the bow” I think I’m going to explode.

Can’t pull the bow back? Are you kidding me? What bow? Who’s bow? Nobody offered to get you a bow that you could draw back? Seriously?

God help us all!

Yes, seriously.

I have helped literally 100s and 100s of new archer/bowhunters get past the insanity that you can only bowhunt with bows they couldn’t pull back.

Somebody, please, write this down, in large capital, bold print dayglow orange letters: YOU CAN KILL DEER AND HOGS WITH A 20-POUND BOW.

Case closed, the jury is not still out. Period. End of story.

Young hunters and gals do it every year with us.

Now, take a deep breath, and repeat it often. Repeat it louder and louder straight into the face of the goofballs who claim otherwise, as I gut and skin deer after deer and hog after hog that were killed with 20-35-pound bows.

Why the resistance? Why the falsehoods? Why the stupidity? Why the denial? Why the elitism?

My petite wife Shemane kills everything that walks with her 35-pound Mathews Jewel shooting a 400 grain GoldTip Nuge arrow tipped with a razor sharp 85-grain Muzzy two-blade broadhead.

With this rig she slays big deer, hogs, 800-pound zebra, 1,000pound Oryx, 350-pound Aoudad, huge tenacious blue wildebeest, giant kudu, great zebra, eland, nyala, impala, warthog, one arrow each, dead, D-E-A-D dead!

Ted with great buckMy Mathews bows draw weight is down to 45-pound in my 66th year, and I kill everything from deer to American bison. 90 percent of my arrows fly clean through my animals.

How much penetration does one need?

Do you know that it would illegal for me to hunt elk in Oregon with this proven elk killing setup? I want to meet the human being that can tell Ted Nugent he is inadequately prepared to kill big game with my bow.

Wouldn’t that make an interesting video encounter? Smells like Piers Morgan.

I don’t know who brainwashed whom, but I do know for a virtual, irrefutable evidence supported FACT that the archery industry is literally halting and turning away an enormous, critically important demographic from our beloved sport with this 60-70# average draw weight nonsense on the shelves of archery shops nationwide.

Will somebody help me here? There are bows everyone can draw back effortlessly, gracefully, smoothly & DEADLY! And those are the bows we MUST make available to all those wannabe archer/bowhunters that have heretofor been shunned and chased away from our sport.

See you here next week with more self-evident truth and a CHARGE forward for upgrade. There is much work to be done.
