After getting back from Colorado I was anxious to get back into the treestand. The first sit after getting back I went out with high hopes of seeing some rut activity. I was going to a spot where I had a couple pictures of a real nice clean 10 pt that would go about 160. When the hunt was all over with I ended up seeing 8 does and 1 little buck. It got me pumped because the little buck was running around, grunting, and chasing the does. I was glad to see that the bucks were starting to get aggressive!
The second hunt I went on was a morning hunt. After sitting there awhile I was starting to think I wasn’t going to see any deer. All of a sudden the deer started showing up about 8:30 in the morning. Ended up seeing 5 does and 3 bucks, and one was a shooter buck! I didn’t get a very close look at him, but he had a real dark rack and tall tines! I rattled to him, but no response. I honestly think he couldn’t hear me because he was about 100 yards away and the timber was very noisey. This set-up is next to a rock quarry so that is where all the noise was coming from. Overall, these 2 hunts were real fun and hopefully I can connect with a big boy soon!
