I alway believed that coyotes killed more deer than other predators, mainly due to their numbers. Coyotes are highly adaptable and live near metro areas, farms, and rural areas. Coyotes are not protected in most states but effectively avoid both hunters and trappers.

It is about time D&DH got a new Southern Editor. A tunnel-visioned focus on northern and midwest regions and an almost complete lack of articles and info on hunting deer in the south is the MAIN reason I let my subscription lapse last year. A lot of southern deer hunting is done on land leased from timber companies which presents a whole host of issues and obstacles not encountered when hunting heavily agricultural areas like the midwest. On average, Southern deer may be smaller than their northern counterparts, but based on discussions with southern hunters who travel to those regions, if you can hunt leased timber land, you can hunt anywhere. But learning the ropes is an arduous learning process. I hope Mr. Clemons will be given enough inches in the magazine to make up for that dearth of data.

Did a little research, turns out the land owner had trails cam pictures of the deer alive after the season ended. The deer was found later shot with the head cut off.

Turns out David V. Kent shot the deer from a truck using a spotlight, It seems he was involved in illegal activities before. Several years ago he was in a truck from which his brother attempted to poach a spotlighted deer and instead killed a young boy.

Kelli, were the deer's eyes blue when you were looking at them outside of this picture, becasue I agree with Allen, in a pic with a flash, this is what a deer's eyes will reflect back, like red eye in a human...

NSSF was just baiting you up!!
In no way did the bill stand a chance in the House of Delegates. There was not enough support or votes to pass it there and everyone knew it!!! That is why it got pulled before it ever went to a vote. I would like to see the ban on Sunday hunting lifted here in VA but it will be years before it happens.
