Want to get closer to more deer while hunting from a ground blind?
Creating a ground blind is one of the best and easiest ways to maximize your deer hunting opportunities. You can select specific stand locations based on travel routes, bedding areas, feeding areas, the wind, water or other factors, and then make the blinds as elaborate or simple as you want.
Ground blinds from different companies such as Ameristep, Primos, Baronett and others are lightweight, spacious and most have the “hub” system to easily assist with setup or takedown. The hub system is similar to an umbrella in that you pop the hub, the “spokes” flare and the blind opens. That’s a simple explanation but it’s pretty cool how they work.
Or, if you’re a DIY guy and maybe watching the budget, you can create your own ground blinds with a saw, pruning shears, loppers or other tools. Some hunters even use chain saws to cut larger trees (not giant ones, of course) and make more elaborate blinds. But the majority of DIY ground blinds involve limbs, brush, maybe some pallets or netting, and can do the job quite well. Plus, they’re fun to make.
