World Record 8-Point Buck Update
Jason Sanders killed this buck killed this Illinois buck during the state’s shotgun season in 2011. It is believed to be the largest 8-pointer ever killed in North America. This trail camera photo just surfaced on the Internet this week.

I think you misread the article. From what I can see it was killed in the firearm season in 2011.
