Are You Ready for a Hot, Sultry South Carolina Buck Hunt?

After chasing island-hopping deer in the first episode of the new season, the Destination Whitetail team heads south to a more sweltering climate for its next hunt.

Destination Whitetail, presented by Carbon Express, travels to the backwoods of Ulmer, S.C., to visit Blackwater Hunting Services in pursuit of a buck in velvet. In the lower half of South Carolina, deer season opens early on private lands and hunters may use a bow or firearm.

But it’s not like some other deer season openers. The middle of August in South Carolina can mean high temperatures, high humidity, thunderstorms and a hot hunt, in more ways than one! But the chance at a velvet-antlered buck and the ability to hunt with any weapon is attractive to many hunters.

In Episode 2 of Destination Whitetail, our hunters’ streak of bad luck takes a turn as they come across a legendary healing well that might just change their fortunes. Do the waters from this healing well work? Tune in to see if the well is able to break an unlucky streak.

Check out the teaser and join the hunt with Destination Whitetail on the Sportsman Channel Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. EST and 11:30 p.m. EST, plus an additional showing on Fridays at 9:30 a.m. EST.

Destination Whitetail, produced by F+W Outdoors, premiered in 2012 on the Sportsman Channel. The series investigates the people, places and ways to hunt whitetail deer throughout North America.

In the 43 states with deer populations, the habitat varies as greatly as the traditions and methods used to hunt them. Destination Whitetail was a finalist for the 2012 Sportsman Choice Awards for “Best New Series.”
