A giant buck cost an Illinois man a giant amount of cash following his conviction and sentencing for poaching charges.
Weldon “Jesse” Bean of Kankakee, Ill., was charged by Illinois DNR in late 2011 for multiple violations following his arrest. Bean pleaded guilty to seven of the charges filed by the DNR, including hunting without permission, hunting within 300 yards of dwelling, illegal possession of a whitetail deer, failure to tag the deer after killing it, illegal transportation of an uncased bow on an ATV and having an invalid archery deer permit.
Fines for those charges totaled $4,774. Bean also paid restitution of $5,226 for the value of the deer and he had to surrender the deer and his hunting equipment to the Illinois DNR.
