Savage Hunter Series

Postby crazybull » Thu Mar 25, 2010 12:53 am

I just got a Savage Hunter Series .308 and I was wondering if anyone else had used this rifle for deer hunting and had any thoughts about how is performed.

I don't have that exact rifle but I have a Savage in .270.  Savage rifles are great and .308 is a great deer round.  You will be hard pressed to find a rifle that performs better.

I would say that just about any .308 Rifle is going to work very well on a Deer, the .308 will knock down a Deer for sure and probably be a very accurate gun!If Your worried about too much recoil....if your Rifle is a Bolt-action You can probably get the "Managed Recoil" shells from Remington to help with less recoil if it isn't an issue then your fine too.I was thinking about getting a Savage 7mm-08 in the Hunter Series myself, that should be a good accurate gun and the recoil will be pretty light with that size caliber Rifle. [;)]

savage makes a great gun. one of my brothers and my hunting buddys had a savage in .308 it shoots great i also think you have a great deer gun. plus it is also a great round for most of the big game here in the US and other countries too.
