The first gun you learn to hunt with, in my family, is a savage 22/.410 over and under. They make some very fine weapons, and I believe it will fit your hand like an extenion of your arm. enjoy it.
The only real difference between a good tracker and a bad tracker is observation. All the same data is present for both. The rest is understanding what you are seeing.
