Yes sir it is. He will have good fields of fire coming right in front of him, and should be able to see any deer well before he has to take his shot. He is knocking on 9 yrs of age, and just loves hunting! When the leaves are off the trees, you can see 100+ yards to the bottom. I want the animal close however, one because he is young, and two because the power scope he is using maxes out at 4x.

Hey Shaman!

Took the yute to the range last weekend, and man, can that little guy shoot!
Off a bench, he put two rounds in the top of the black shoot-n-seem' target and three rounds in the bottom. By then, we had a hot barrel, and the gun was wandering quite a bit. This was at a distance of 50 yards.
I'm proud of him. It's like it all just came together and he was a different kid!
I'm off to re- sight in the .30-30 at the range this morning to give me a rain gun for the upcoming deer season!

I've got Angus' 30-30 ready for another round of shooting this weekend, leading up to the Yute Opener in another week.  He's been much slower than his brother  to catch on to the finer points, but he's keeping them in the black now. He'll undoubtedly bring back the first venison in family this year.
