zero to hero..........

Hey everyone!

Question for everyone. I'm getting my BAR stripped and serviced following this season. This means I have to start from scratch regarding zeroing her back. I always seem to go through alot of ammo in this process.
I usually try to get her on paper at 25 yards, then work my way back to 100 yards.
My question is, how high should she be be at 25 with a 165 grain SST hornaday's to be dead on at 100.
Any help would be appriciated.

Download a copy of POINTBLANK software and figure it out for yourself.   The answer however, will be dependent on the height of the scope .

I just ran the numbers for my pet 30-06 load which happens to be a 165 grain Hornady with a 1.5" offset for the scope.  I see .16" low at 25 yards to be 1.94" high at 100 yards, which puts it dead on at 195 yards. However, if you put in the MAX velocity for that load it's only 0.10" low at 25 yards.

Bottom line: With a 1.5" scope offset, dead-on at 25 yards should at least get you on the paper at 100 yards.

Definitely a little low at 25. The bullet's just starting to rise.
