Is bigger better?

Hey folks!

When it comes to optics, what do you like to top your favorite firearm with?

I hunt deep woods in the northeast, so I prefer lower power scopes, with a wider field of view.

The only time I could shoot over 100 yards would be on a powerline, and I'm not on them enough to warrant the larger magnification.

I shoot 2X7's on my slug guns, both are Leupolds. A 1.75X6 on my muzzleloader and 3X9's on my deer rifles. My .223 has a 4X16 and my .204 has a 6X20.

I generally hunt with a 1.5-4.5X  cranked down to about 3X.   From a stand, inside 100 yards, that is plenty for me, and that is how I do 80% of my hunting. Some have 3-9X scopes cranked to about 4X.  My eyesight went a few years ago, and I had to give up on iron sights.     I've had trouble from scopes over the past 27 years, but it has never been from a lack of magnification.
