I have a ruger 25-06 with a floated bull barrel. the barrel is long, 28 inches, its a bolt action with wood stock. it's a tack driver. I have it zeroed at 200 yrds and have shot crows with it at 300 yards. its a good flat shooting caliber. its considered a good all around round for lots of medium sized game. it shoots flat, so its good for longer range shots on animals like antelope, and has plenty of power to take down deer sized game. i dont know the official specs, but from what i have seen with mine i would say you easily can take deer with it out to at least 300 yards, probably out to 400 yards without a problem. it's a good round. not as popular as some other rounds, but its fairly flat shooting and doesnt kick much.
