It is the naive fool that thinks our new president, who is walking into a cluster-f@&# is thinking about gun control. I'm sure he has more pressing crises to address, like the biggies bringing this country to it's knees. And again, I never said I wouldn't fight ferociously for gun rights. It is not time to be overly concered.

You`ve already blown it, you fight for your gun rights in the polling booth. By the time we`re fighting at the front door, they`ve already won, we`re only delaying the inevitable.

Whether you`ve voted for obama, or whether you only insist that we`re picking a fight with the Boogie Man, that nobody really wants to take our guns away, you`re aiding them, as well as leaving us with the cost of the fight, financially and emotionally. And tell the folks in Chicago that we`re worried about nothing. They can`t legally own a handgun, but hey, no worries eh?

You can't own a hand gun in New York City either, so what? It's still no reason to beleive the sky is falling. Are you going to whine about it on this website for the next 4 years or are you going to do something about it?

I see by your profile Deerblaster that, like many on these forums you choose not to publicly share any personal info in your profile other than apparently you're a gal. I'm guessing you're also quite young, which would explain why you don't "get it" with regards to this discussion. Our new president elect resonates with younger people (and for some reason women) who have not lived long enough to see and experience the trends in our nations political development. Nor have many young people worked long enough to have lots of their money taken away through rising taxation. I knew there had to be a reason for this "Polly-Anna" perspective you keep sticking to. If I'm right and you are indeed much younger, it oddly makse me feel better. If I'm wrong and you're an older women, then I'm even more puzzled...

So what......? You obviously don`t understand the magnatude of what`s happening, and has been set in motion. By the time you do get it, if you ever do, it will be too late.

Here are some stats to swallow deerblaster:

NYC, Chicago, Washington DC account for 9% of the MURDERS in the United States, 3 cities where guns are banned or so heavily restricted that God would have a hard time passing the background check and red tape.

There are over 8,000 reporting municipalities on the FBI Uniform Crime Report. 3 Municipalities account for 9% of the Murders, Yet guns are banned and still used in 60 to 70% of the crimes in those cities. Do you not find it astonishing that 7997 other municipalities are needed to account for the other 91% of murders.

You also, of course, understand that so called "assault weapons" not only function the same as your semi auto 12 gauge shotgun but also are used in less than 1% of crimes.

You do know that there are 3 versions of the assault weapons ban, already in Congress and they are all more restrictive than the Clinton years. Any weapon with a threaded barrel to accept outside attachments, Originally developed for Military or Law enforcement purposes, or deemed by the AG to be unsuitable for sporting purposes are all subject to this ban.

You are aware that the 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting aren't you? Hunting benefits from the 2nd Amendment's existence, but was never a primary consideration in its inclusion in the Constitution.

The magnitude of what's NOT happening is more accurate. It's the same rant every time a dem gets elected.

I just wanted to remind you squirrelhumper of all we've lost since you elected president Bush 8 ago and then again 4 years  ago. So don't talk to me about a president making life more difficult. Maybe if I pop a viagra I'd feel the same way you guys do about electing a war hero instead of a Obama. Oh I forgot, I don't have the burden of having my brain hanging between my legs since, after all I'm a dumb 8 year old girl and you old guys clearly know how to elect a guy who will do the right thing.

It`s amazing that as an 8 year old, you know so much about all that`s happened since Bush has been in office. Your ideology is as simplistic as that of an 8 year old however, so maybe you really are that young. I could see an 8 year old wanting a celeb in the White House. Fluff over substance.

obama is as liberal as liberal can be. Sadly, the liberal ideology is, big government is the answer. A citizen can`t be trusted to do the right thing, let big brother take the burden of all those pesky ethical decisions away from you.....it`s for your own good. You don`t need guns, or to keep the money you`ve earned thru hard work, after all, look at your poor brothers and sisters who won`t work, and how impoverished they are. Stop struggling, resistance is futile, and it`ll feel better once you just give in and accept, government know`s best.

obama has the endorsement of oprah and 8-year olds........hard to argue with that.  [8|]

Well,well. I obviously hit a nerve somewhere.

First off, I never said I voted for Bush either time. You assumed that. I believe it was Obama we were talking about.

Not certain what you mean by "all we've lost".

I never took a guess at your actual age, I only speculated (respectfully I might add) that you were of a younger generation, which could help explain the dichotomy in our viewpoints.

The "war hero" as you so flippantly referred to him as would not have been my first choice either. He didn't choose to become a war hero. He accepted it with more character than you showed in your recent response.

As to your other references including your creative take on my forum name, they are unfitting of a lady and thus best left uncommented on.
However, crudeness like this may get you uninvited to this forum, which would deprive you of our wisdom and us of your incredible grasp of politics and the english language.

Well done Squirrelhawker.
An old saying comes to mind. " I would never hit a lady, but the woman that hits me is not a lady".
