30-30 stopping power?

I've killed 5 deer in 4 seasons with my Marlin 336W 30-30 and not a one has gone more than 20 yards with a good shot.  I use the Hornady 160 gr. LeveRevolution Bullet.  Whether it's short range or long range it works fine.  My best shot was a thick 6 pt at 175 yards, shot went through the heart and both lungs and the big guy didn't take a single step, toppled over where he stood. 
 
Don't worry about the stopping power of a 30-30, it's a tried and proven round.  Good luck on your trip to NY!
