What Gun/Guns and Ammo do You Deer Hunt with?

I grew up using a Marlin .22 just for target practice and loved it.  When I got older and decided to hunt I stuck with Marlin and chose the 336W Lever Action 30-30.  It's a good gun capable of 100+ yard shots with the Remington Core Lok shells.
 
A couple of years afte I bought the 30-30 Hornaday cam out with the Hornaday Leverevolution shell that now easily allows my 30-30 to shoot 200 yard shots and with practice you can take 300 yard shots and still kill a deer.  Not bad for a rifle originally bought for 100 yard shots. 
 
Two years ago I proved it's worth by hitting a 6 point buck at 175 yards, it dropped on the spot.

Here in lower Michigan(shotgun only) I use a Remington 870 with a rifled slug barrel, and Remington copper solid slugs. When I hunted 'up north'(rifle zone) I used my Marlin model 336 in 35 rem. I tried a couple different rounds in that gun, found Remington 'core-lokt' to work the best. I also own a Ruger (new model)blackhawk in 45 colt, with a bit more practice, and some 'hot' loads, I plan to pursue whitetail with it as well (up close and personal,of course).

I know I'm a little behind in this post...but are machine guns legal in some states?  Or was that a typo?

Hmmmmmm..? I think You can use an AR-15 or and AK-47 for Hunting but you are only allowed a magazine that will hold around 3 to 4 shells at one time.I believe No fully automatic Rifle/Guns are allowed either?

I use a Browning Gold Deer Hunter 12 gauge shotgun
It kicks like a mule leaves a big entry hole and is accurate
But i like using a .308 or a 30 06 they have good range on

I love the 25 calibers.  you are all missing a great gun by not mentioning the 250-3000. This gun has acceptable recoil for youth or anyone that is recoil sensitive.  It will kill deer with authority.
 
The only problem is they are a little hard to find these days as the only company I know of that chambers it now is TC for the Encore

Right now I'm using a Remington 770 in .270 with Federal Premium 150 gr. Vital-Sock (until the box runs out) AND I use my CVA .50 cal inline muzzleloader!
 
In central Wisconsin I don't have too many long range shots so the .270 is fine.  I intend to step up to a .300 or .308 soon (probably not before the season though).
 
However, I LOVE my muzzleloader!!!  It is so much fun to shot and the recoil is almost nothing.  I haven't put the scope (1x) on it yet and I might not, I like the fiber-optics that are on it!!!  Sure it's only one shot but that's all I usually get anyway!!!

I gun hunt in central WI. were it is kind of brushy.  Not many long shots unless you in a tree stand.  For still hunting or doing drives I use a BLR 308 with a 1-4 leupold.  I've been kicking the idea around of buying a bolt action but don't want to part with the money just yet.
