What Gun/Guns and Ammo do You Deer Hunt with?

One of my thrills is to put together a new rig then take it out and break it in.  In  Western New York we could only use shotguns/muzzle loaders/pistols until 3 years ago when they opened up more counties to rifle hunting.  Most counties still ban rifles.  Curently I have a Browning ABolt 12ga topped w/a Leupold 2X7 shooting Federal Barnes expander sabots.  I also have a customized Remington 1100 20ga topped w/ a Leupold 2X7 compact currently shooting Federal Barnes expanders but I may play with this one to see if it will shoot the Winchester gold line as it's not quite the tack driver like the Browning.  My current rifle is a Remington 760 308 shooting the Federal 165 fusion as I have not come up with a hand load that I'm satisfied with.  I'm in the early stages of having a custom 280 Ackley Improved on a thumb safety Ruger action put together for a trip  I may be taking to Nebraska in 2010.
PS--JerryBrown1949  I just read your post.  Right on!  I harvested a number of deer with the 257 on a Ruger model 77.  I would still have and be hunting with that gun today if it wasn't for the 3 position wing safety which almost cost me a couple deer when still hunting.  I would push the safety forward and the gun wouldn't fire because it had that middle position which would only allow the bolt to work(load & unload) while still locking the trigger/firing pin.

I hunt with a TIKKA T3 Lite in .308 which I have hunted with for three years now. It is the perfect Whitetail rifle for me.  I use it in Kentucky and Oklahoma and can carry it all day. It has a silky smooth bolt, easy to shoot, great fit. I use it for Whitetails and coyotes and 100% pleased with it.

I shoot a weatherby 30-06 using federal fusion 165 gr bullets. Not too bad on the shoulder. It is my 1st rifle. Hope to add more in the future!

SKS, AK-47, M-1 Garand, SMLE, FN-FAL, Savage Arms Model 110 in .270 Win. and another in .22-250 Rem. When I can, I use handloads. When I am short on time and just need something I can get sighted in for aim check, I use Federal Power-Shok loads. They have grouped the tightest in my Savage Arms rifles, almost on par with my precision loaded handloads.

In Missouri I can use up to a 10 round magazine on my semiautos for hunting season. I have never needed more than one, but I do like having the ability for a fast followup shot. I also prefer rugged firearms so that I don't have to worry about them breaking in the field.

Out west I use a 300WSM, whitetail usually a 30-06 or my Knight Disc 50 cal for black powder season. I hand load most my rounds mainly with Sierra Game Kings. I haven't found a more accurate bullet yet. (But I keep looking!)

Gafrange he probly is useing eather a remingtoh 750 or a 7400 those are 2 of Remingtons semi-auto rifels
 
and as for me I use a borrowed Enfield Mk5 jungle carbine with hornady 150 grn spirepoints and my own Winchester 12 Ga with 000 Buckshot
 
I just got a New CVA Kodiak Magnum yesterday for christmas and thankfuly I will have 4 days this year to hunt with it after I go sight it in on sunday

Your right Little_Deer.....I checked back and saw where I mis-wrote the model of my Remington 30-06,it is a model 742 Semi-Automatic.I thought Gafrage was asking if Machine Guns were legal to hunt with? [8|] [&:]

I have a Remington 700 in 7mm Mag for those loooong shots, a Weatherby in .270 (great gun) that I use when away, & a Remington 870 slug gun with a rifled barrel for local deer hunting. Live in SE Penna so I'm limited to slug guns around here.

If I'm still hunting I use a Winchester model 70 super shadow edition chambered in 300wsm.  I shoot winchester supreme ballistic tips cause thats the ONLY thing I can get to hold a pattern with.  If we're running then I use my trusty Mossberg 835 12 gauge with remington 00 buchshot in 3.5 shells.  My daughter has a Remington 7400 in 243 that she hunts with, but she has yet to shoot at anyrhing.
