we have it here in chicagonois im not fond of it myself, i miss the check stations. i think the information obtained back then was far more accurate and usefull. i liked going to see what s been brought in and shoot the breeze.  just my take

Indiana has proposed the call in check system. I`m opposed to it for a couple reasons, but primarily because I believe it would encourage poaching/not checking in deer.

Like rushboy222 said, here in Wisconsin we have to check in our deer.  I guess i kinda like it because it gives you a chance to talk to fellow hunters and see what they shot and talk to them about what they saw.

I used to live in WI and have learned since moving away that that state is head and shoulders above all others as far as deer management reporting systems go...BECAUSE they have mandatory registration. It might be a minor inconvenience, but the data they gather from this system is invaluable in helping them craft harvest strategies. In over 50 years of managing deer the way they do, WI has a margin of error of less than 5%. The closest any other state comes is MO, I believe, and they are +/- 20%. Huge difference. B.D.

New York State has the call in system . It's easy enough to use if you can get through . I wonder how many hunters don't bother to make the call ??????????????????

I miss the deer check stations, they used to have collage kids record age and weight. Hunters wouldn't poach as much either. Call in is good for the gas prices nowdays, but I believe gas is a fair price to avoid mis-managment throughout the state. What gets me is the dnr still is under staffed, why should the state spend hunter money on non dnr related state programs. Just does't seem right to me.
