Fresh scrape

Took a walk in one area that I had a camera in last year and found a freshly worked scrape under a hanging, dried up grape vine. I just have to go back tomorrow and put a camera there to see what he is. I have seen scrapes in Sept. in past years.

Had to go back in yesterday to install a larger chain to secure the camera to a tree. The one I had initially was too short. I did leave the camera and just secured it with bunge cords. So yesterday I switched the card to see what was there that first day. Got several pics of this small buck checking out my work of cutting brush for a clear shot for the camera. This is what goes on at night after your trimming around your stands. Thats why it's best to do all your trimming before season. If during season, just before a rain is known, is a good time. In the past I had always found, with trim work, during season, the best hunt was that very first afternoon. After that, the deer seemed to avoid the area for several days, unless you are baiting (they then know your around).

An update from the camera at an early scrape. First one looks to be a typical 10, and looks old, maybe 5 1/2 or 6 1/2. Second, I think is an 8 with which looks like a drop off the right side, but when I zoom in, I'm not sure exactly what it is. If it is some sort of drop, it is long. I'm wondering if i it is velvet peal, or something caught up in it. Will have to see what more pics will reveal.

I'm going to go to that camera and scrape, and freshen up that natural scrape with some buck lure and see what kind of a reaction I get.
