Does anybody have any suggestions on the best way to fertilize mature apple trees to optimize apple production? Thanks in advance for any help on this.

I'd go to the local garden center or home improvement store garden department and get some tree fertilizer stakes for fruit trees and pound them into the ground.

i know this is an old thread but just thought i would second what ranwin33 suggested. In case anyone else has the same question. i used the stakes one year and the deer loved the apples of the fert'd trees. they seemed to work quite well.
