selecting fruit trees

Postby roughrider 123 » Mon Aug 30, 2010 6:55 am

I live in Pa. and have an open 1/2 acre to plant trees. Any suggestions on late blooming fruit selections to try? I currently hunt another stand under apples and the deer are there every day looking for dropped fruit. The apples lasted into November on the tree.
Thanks for any help.

Parsimmon trees alos attract deer very well. my Father-in-law hunts property in northern WV and we were checking his rifle stands just before the week of Thanksgiving. There were plenty of persimmons on the ground and still in the tree. They usually start getting real sweet after the temps start getting cold.

mixture of hard and soft mast. early and late apples, persimmons, hybrid oaks, pears, chestnuts. so you have the fruit bearing spread out.
