blood tracking lights

I have only one experience using one. We were helping a fella track his deer, he had one, we really did not see the blood any better than with a regular flashlight.

Try a Coleman gasoline lantern.  You'll be amazed.

I haven't tried one but my hunting buddy has an apple farm and he gets nuisance permits which allows him to take deer at night. He said it works great. I don't have the model info for the light he has but I will get it and follow up in this post.

I can't speak for the light but I just saw on Cabelas or Bass Pro a spray that apparent creates some sort of chemicla reaction when it comes in contact with blood and turns the blood into a neon blue when you shine a flashlight on it.  Not sure I could envision spraying the entire forest floor with this stuff to track a trace blood trail, but it was an interesting concept.

[font=tahoma]I've been reading some things on the web that suggest using hydrogen peroxide or hydrogen peroxide with a little [color=#339900]green (or yellow) food coloring mixed in.  Put it in a spray bottle and spray a fine mist.  When it hits fresh (not dried) blood it foams / bubbles up and makes it easier to see.[/color][/font]

I've got the Gerber Blood light and it sure isn't worth the $50 that it cost. It has 2 different lights, one that's supposed to make blood stand out and one regular white bulb. I did better seeing the blood with the regular white bulb. I wasn't impressed and it's not in my field kit any more. Money wasted on another gimmick.

I also have the Gerber blood tracker light, and it was a waste of my money
does not show/highlight blood in anyway.....They saw me coming....

Oh crap. I bought a Gerber Carnivore light last fall. I never got a chance to use it yet. I got mine for $19.00 at Big R ,so if it's worthless, I didn't lose too much.
