First, wait until pre-rut before you do any calling. Second, the doe or fawn bleat is usually the best call to use unless you have a very good buck to doe ratio. Third, different techniques work in different areas, so talk to other hunters in your area to find out which calls work best......and when. An example is that rattling and grunting doesn't work very well down in my part of SC, unless the deer are out in a food plot and I'm trying to get their attention.
