First sheds found

Postby charlie 01 » Thu Dec 26, 2013 8:54 pm

Found this pair today. They were only 6 feet apart (that's nice) and had been down a while and frozen in the snow.

Yes they are great looking sheds, but they have regressed some from last years pair of the same deer. Last year they were larger and he is not old enough to be regressing in antler size. I believe his small antler size was due to the early hot and dry summer we had. I and friends of mine had noticed smaller size antlers than last year of same deer. I think, while in the velvet period the hot and dryness shortened the antler growth. I'll see what happens with him this year if he is still around.
