Deer Disease

Postby zackcoleman_ » Sat Jul 05, 2014 8:22 am

This deer showed up on our camera several times. What's wrong with it and should I shoot it before it infects other deer?

That is very strange. I have never seen this before. It looks like what ever skin issue the deer has, it has had it for a while. Yet the deer has a good size belly, perky ears, seems lively, and you cant see any ribs. I would send this photo to a deer biologist or game warden to see what they think. I would like to know what this deer is suffering from, knowledge is power you know.

I'm guessing, but could it be mange? I've seen squirrels with it and it looks similar.
Keep life simple...if you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras.
