I agree will you guys the story said natural causes...I don't think it was old age that did him.  Judging by the trail cam pic (pretty straight back and not much of a belly).
 
Maybe Marc knows if the deer was every aged after the found it. 
That's why they call it hunting and not getting

The story is in North American Whitetail magazine, Feb.  It took place in Menard county Ill.
Final net non-typical score was 254 1/8.  The owner of the land said there was a second buck in the area bigger than Big Louie.

You were straight on saying that you were not sure if story was true/confirmed.  What an awesome buck, however.  I agree with many of the observations that the deer did not look too old.
