Show Hours & Ticket Prices -- Wisconsin Deer & Turkey Expo

SHOW HOURS
Show hours for the 25th annual Wisconsin Deer & Turkey Expo are 2 p.m. – 9 p.m. Friday, April 3; 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. Saturday, April 4, and 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2009.

TICKET PRICES & SPECIALS

Adults tickets are $10 one-day, $17 two-day and $23 three-day; military personnel tickets are $9 one-day, $15 two-day and $20 three-day; $7 for Hunter Safety Course graduates ages 12-18 who present proof of course completion at the ticket window (regular adult price w/o proof of course completion); $3 youth ages 6-11, with children five and under admitted free. On Friday Family Night all youth ages 11 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
All seminars are free once you have purchased your admission ticket.

Whitetail deer and black bear trophy contest entry is $15 and includes a three-day pass. All first-year hunters who earned their Hunter Education Course certificate between January 1, 2008, and April 2, 2009, are admitted free if they show proof of course completion at the ticket window. Group rates are available, with 25-person minimum, adult one-day tickets only. Tickets will go on sale at 1:30 pm Friday, 8:30 am Saturday and 8:30 am Sunday to ease the ticket-line crunch.

Two Outdoor Photo Contests to Enter at Wisconsin Deer & Turkey Expo

There are many ways to enjoy the outdoors. Photography is one of the most memorable. So why not show some of your favorite memories, and your photography skills, by entering the Outdoor Photo Contest and the Trail Camera Photo Contest at the 25th Wisconsin Deer & Turkey Expo, April 3-4-5 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison. More than 400 photos are expected to be entered.

General Rules for both photo contests:

You must purchase a show general admission ticket before you can enter either photo contest.
Entries may be made from 2:00 pm Friday, April 3, to 10:00 am Sunday, April 5.
The contests are open to amateur photographers only.
Bring your entries to the show. No mail-in entries are accepted. Entries are to be made in the event office near the east entrance to the Bricker Building. Ask a ticket taker for directions.

Entry fee is $5 for up to three photos. There is an additional $5 fee for each additional group of one to three photos entered. The photographer's name, address, telephone number (with area code), and choice of contest category must be on the back of each entry.
There may be up to three awards per category. Photos must remain on display until 3:00 p.m. Sunday. Awards will be given by an expo staff person Sunday at 3:00 pm at the contest display boards. Photos can be picked up at the contest display boards after 3:00 pm Sunday. Photos not picked up will not be returned.
For admission before 3:00 pm Sunday, you must buy a general admission ticket. After 3:00 pm, each photo contest entrant can get in free to pick up his/her photos. All contest entrants must show a contest entry receipt to pick up their photos.

1) Outdoor Photo Contest rules:

Five categories -- 1) Wildlife - (North American only); 2) Flora; 3) Scenic; 4) People in the Outdoors; 5) Miscellaneous/Novelty. No ‘hero' photos of game or fish taken; no pets.
Black-and-white or color prints. Image size can be 5"x7" to 11"x14".
Photos must be mounted unframed on cardboard and cannot include glass. Matting is permitted but discouraged because it takes up too much space.
Judging will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday. 2) Trail Camera Photo Contest rules and guidelines:
This is where you see evidence of strange and unusual wildlife scenes and activities.

Categories: 1) Deer/Bucks, 2) Deer/Other, 3) Turkeys, 4) Predators, 5) Miscellaneous, 6) Series (multiple photos, same subject).
Black-and-white or color prints. Image size can be 4"x6" to 8"x10".
Photos must be mounted unframed on cardboard and cannot include glass. Matting is permitted but discouraged because it takes up too much space.

Judging will be at noon Sunday.

New Features & Highlights in 2009 Wisconsin Deer & Turkey Expo


New features and highlights of the 25th Wisconsins Deer & Turkey Expo include deer decoy demos (and seminars), traditional archery alley, a firearms-questions "answer-man", deer antler-measuring demonstrations, broadhead collection and display, and a demo area on hunting aids for the disabled. In addition, there is a new three-day ticket and special ticket price for military personnel.

"We're working hard to keep the show fresh, interesting and chockfull of solid information," said event producer Glenn Helgeland, president of Target Communications Corp., the producing company. "We're putting a little extra into it, because this will be our company's 25th year of expo production and the 25th year of this expo."

The Deer & Turkey Expo will be April 3-4-5 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.

Other attractions include:

Byron Ferguson, archery trick shot and accomplished bowhunter, performs Saturday and Sunday.
Seminars and demonstration area on food plot development and management;
An optics (scopes and binoculars) hands-on tryout area that will be part of the new Firearms "Answer Man" Info Center;
New-products special display area; Hands-on shooting areas (archery, airgun, laser firearms);
Display of hides, furs and pelts of Wisconsin fur-bearing animals;
Whitetail deer and black bear trophy contest, sponsored by Miller Lite, with all trophy measuring/scoring by members of the Wisconsin Buck & Bear Club;
Venison butchering and processing demonstrations;
2-1/2 days of how-to seminars, more than 50 presentations on a dozen topics; seminars are free once you have your general admission ticket;
Two photo contests (Outdoor Photo Contest and Trail Cam Photo Contest;
Live game animal and predator display;
More than 570 exhibit booths, many with product for sale;
Flint knapping and Mountain Man demo areas and displays;
