probation for killing bald eagle?

does anyone know details on what this guy from hardin actually got. hit the paper this morning and all they mention is fine, probation, and they took the gun he shot the eagle with. Is this no longer a felony?   Can this guy seriously still legally hunt?

Remember a few years back when the sky was empty and we were all nice to each other, what would have happened to someone shooting the symbol of our country around 9/11.
