Old hunting pictures of my great grandpa's buck

Postby Gafrage » Thu Jan 31, 2013 6:42 pm

All I know about this picture, is my great grandfather shot a 10 point buck, that had a 27.5" inside spread.

I'm currently looking through other pictures to find more because I know my grandfather also shot a enormous buck that had a 27" inside spread that was a 12 pointer and had 14" G2's. My grandfather's buck was given to a local taxidermist around the DePere area (from what I've been told) and he exchanged some labor for the guy to mount the antlers, and the guy was never heard from again is how the story goes.

Anyway, pretty cool picture, sorry about the quality, but I was lucky enough to stumble across this picture.

I believe it was shot somewhere near Argonne, WI. The exact date is unknown as I'm trying to piece some other information together.

Wow! That is a really cool picture!

Family legend holds that my great grandfather shot a remarkable buck in the Adirondacks in the early 1900's. Apparently they scrounged up the money to get it mounted and it was a local attraction in the Lake George region. My grandparents wound up with the mount in their attic and it got tossed out when they moved. Ugh!

You are blessed to have that photo. Thanks for sharing it.

What a great family picture that you have. Very nice buck too.
Taking a photo back then was a big deal and a major production.
