Life is to short to let such things bother you...

Though the "giant photos" do stink..

cuz you just skip over them and can't enjoy the photo

and while i am on the subject,

most people don't take photos to put them in a magazine,

They tell the story of their experience and the place and time in their life.

The person who posts a picture is sharing their experience with you, for that you should be greatful...

other wise you would not have been part of someone elses joy and experience.

i know in the world we live in we don't get much satisfaction out of others happiness anymore or think of others anymore...We are now consumed with instant gradification and selfishness.

here are my two favorite pics, they break every one of your "RULES" but to me they are memories that i shared and now miss as i no longer get to the oppurtunity to hunt with my #1 hunting buddy, good ole DAD.

so next time you make rules thing about others first...

THe photo could be of their first kill -( it took DAD 30 yrs to get a deer...only when i started hunting did he ever actually kill a deer.)

maybe they are excited and in the moment don't think to make the picture "pleaseing to your eye"

maybe they just want to remember the moment when they are old and gray...who cares just be glad they were thoughtful enough to share their lifes experience with you

Pic one - this was my dads third deer of the season ( 1 in PA 2 in NH) after never getting any...last one was a big doe - 138 dressed -

pic two - first buck - PA deer - 2007 last time we went hunting went together

dtrain56, I don't know if you did not read my OP or if you just missed the point I was trying to make. Most of the things I pointed out came from my own photo book. Furthermore, you cannot find one instance in which I have criticized a specific individual's posted photos or claimed to have created "rules".

I don't know about you but I am constantly in the process of trying to improve my hunting...right down to the photos I take. That's why I log on here.

I'd have to agree with JPH on this.  He's not saying you're a bad person if you do it this way instead of that way.  Just giving advice.  This is why we are here...Share our experiences!

I do beleive it says photo gripes..not advice ...and the quote below does not suggest your freindly advice theory

"These are just things that get under my skin a little, so I'm just venting."

to me a gripe says i am not happy with the way things are being done so i am going to complain and try to get people to change..

It is OK if you feel that pictures should be "pleasing to your eye"

i do remember a time when impact shots were taken off T.V. too because a few who complained ( mostly none hunters).

the only advice i would give is size your pics so we can see them easily...

I do believe your opening post says

i don't like this

and i don't like that

and no you did not criticize one person you critizised a whole bunch of people...

but heck "These are just things that get under my skin a little, so I'm just venting."

Challenger, I'm sorry that you find me to be "full of myself". And dtrain56, I'm sorry you find my remarks to be overly critical. Chances are your thoughts about me come closer to the truth than those who speak nicely of me. I know all too well the stuff that I am made of. But flawed as I am, I still hope that something can be gained from this thread. If not, please forgive me for upsetting you.

I'm with JPH on this one.

Terrible post mortem pictures are posted on these poor deer.

They should be respected much more,  perhaps canonized.

Lets prop them up respectful like, perhaps brush their hair, polish their horn's for them, paint their nails,  mascara maybe for the does. Anything we can do to show the world that their sacrifice wasn't in vain.

Wow, whats next? Before we kill a deer we give them a little shout and 2 second head start before we shoot?
