Deer hunting can sometimes take an unexpected turn. In the case of a Wisconsin hunter, he turned right into the mature buck he was after literally.
Said Dan Schultz of Portage, Wisconsin:
"I was hunting on Sept. 29, 2010, and saw only a six-pointer that I passed up. I headed back to town after dark and got a mile or so from my afternoon set before I ended up hitting this monster buck after he ran out of nowhere. He was estimated to be 260-270 live weight. He was 195 after field dressing. He was a 19-inch inside spread eight-pointer. Green score was 145 inches. What a waste to see a gorgeous buck die this way. The biggest disappointment is that he was less than a mile from my property that I hunt."
