Caught this buck about 40 yards from my bowstand, not sure about taking him this year, but will see.

Nice deer. I wonder how old he is. He is beginning to put some weight on his hind quarters, but his front quarters are still pretty light. His abdomen curves upward like a young deer. Based on his body, it's hard to think he's more than 2½, but I've heard Texas deer are small, so I could be wrong. If he's only 2½, he's a dandy and ought to be really something next year.

Any thoughts on his age?

I also think he's a 2.5 year deer. I would wait until next year to shoot him! He could be a real dandy.

I have to agree that this deer is a 2.5 year old and possibly even 3.5. Either way he has some great potential.

I also hunt in texas, and with my expreinience (which isnt much) He is 3.5 in my opinion. His belly is sagging a little more then a 2.5. The only thing that would make me consider 2.5 is his neck is small. However old he is, good luck with him if you decide to take him.
