Great pics msbadger!  Very cool!

DeanoZ, my understanding is bucks will spar as soon as the velvet (gloves) are off.  Some gentle rattling is not a bad strategy on stand even in September and early October.

Great pictures!  Was this when you were hunting, or out your front door?

Yes, it seems that once they lose their velvet, something triggers in them and they don't run in their bachelor groups anymore, and start being stubborn, which causes a few early season fights here and there.

Great pics.  They are just working out and testing each other for when it is game time.
That's why they call it hunting and not getting

Off the front porch...I'd been watching the doe and fawn go by and went in for coffee...when I came out they were just getting to the house...so I ran and got the camera....It's been warm days and 40's at night so the mornings are foggy in the hills...they fed thru for about a half hour doing this on and off ....the smaller 4 would break off and run away and then come back to tease the 6pt....aaauuugghh....Oct 17th ...hurry up!
