Hi all, just wanted to share a 2009 story with you. In 2007 my freind Brian was diagnosed with cancer. My other freind Scott kept seeing this wide 8 pointer. We decided to let Brian go for the deer. Brian never did see the deer and died in 2008. Brians mom wanted me to have his bow, a Mathews Switchback. I had to change the cams but then it was set and I headed for the woods. On Nov 5th the buck that we wanted Brian to get walked by me. It was the first time I saw the deer in person. After the shot I looked to the sky and said "we got him buddy...we got him." It had a 27 1/2 inch spread, a 7 1/2 and a 10 1/2 inch brow tine and was 5 1/2 years old. Still wouldn't trade the huntin stories I made with Brian for any deer. Your right fave, your memories are so much more important than the deer you actually take. Cherish these wonderful memories.

I realized I didn't join in the fun of '09 kills!  I let most all bucks walk but killed 4 deer and filled my freezer.  The first was a muzzleloader doe.  I had actually gone to get my buddy out of his stand late in morning and while he was climbing out, she showed up.  So I got to shoot her while I was standing under my buddy who was climbing down with no gun.  He had the best seat in the house!

The last three deer were taken doing very small man drives on public land.  Pretty good considering the dogs and dog hunters eat up those spots all gun season long.  One deer was a small doe, one was a shed buck, and the other was a small forkhorn with a broken left main beam.  I killed the two bucks running together and my partner also took two does that day.  We both limited out!  It was a crazy action packed day.  Makes up for a lot of those 0-fers.  I'm picky when I stand hunt, but when others bust their tails to move deer to me late in the season on public land then being picky stops!  Plus the action and rush is unbelievable!
