These pictures were taken 4 Nov 07.  My son Wyatt is holding my 2007 9-pointer.  The picture of the hunting injury is me in 2005.  2 Dec 05, I was in a tree stand when my 12 gauge fell and discharged.  The slug destroyed my right elbow.  The first doctor told me I would never hunt again.  The surgeon who did my reconstruction said I might return to deer hunting.  I had the right arm fused with 16" of steel rod and several screws.  I returned to bowhunting in 07(crossbow now) I lost about 5" of the right arm.  I harvested this deer at 10:30 4 Nov 07 and sent a picture of it three days later to doc #1 with the words "never say never"

wow that looked nasty your lucky it didnt kill ya.That photo is a grim reminder of what can go wrong , iliked to use it to show my nephew what can happen if your paying attention,do you mind?Glad your back out in the field.Hope ya get a deer  with your crossbow

They should showthat picture to all hunters every season to remind us of the danger of hunting and hunting mistakes are not childs play

Sad story to start but glad you persisted and turned it into a happy story in the end!  Nice buck and thanks for the reminder to be careful in 6 days when I hit the woods for the Alabama Bow Season!
