My son's first deer

Last Friday during the IL shotgun opener my son Kolby, got his first deer. It was a nice 8 point buck that dressed out at 175 pounds. He missed a turkey last spring and hit a small buck in the youth season that is still showing up on trial cams. He deserved this deer in my opinion. Although I will hunt until the end of the season I can actually say my season is complete....I accomplished my goal. You can tell by his smile he is pleased as well.
Bucks and does alike, if I ever lose the rush leading up to and after a kill, I will hang it up. Knowing me, that will never happen.

Great job Kolby. He does look very happy. Poor deer though. Anyway, I'm new here and will just start with this hobby. I hope I'd be able to hunt good ones soon. Wish me luck!

they do not make them like that in south carolina. that is one large deer by sc standards. congratulations
