Check in with what rigs you all kill deer with in the Hoosier state. Everything from archery equipment, to handgun, shotgun, to the newly allowed PCR`s.

Sound off.

in bow season i use a pse nova with carbon express terminator hunter 6075 tiped with 100gr 3 blade rage broadheads shooting about 250 fps at 65# i know my bow is pretty outdated being i bought it nearly 10 years ago but i dont fell it has paid for its self yet, and that  i cant see paying more for a bow than i did my 4 wheel drive toyota lol. in gun season i use one of three guns  mossberg 500 pump 12 gauge topped with an old diamond retical simmons, winchester 140 semi auto 12 gauge open sights, in both guns i shoot remininton 2 3/4 sluggers, or my t/c omega 50 cal topped with a busnell. i shoot 100gr triple seven pellets and 250gr shockwave bullet. depending where i hunt is what gun i take.
its not about the animal you harvest, its about the time spent harvesting the animal!!!!

My archery rig is a Martin Bengal with Gold Tips guided by blazers and fronted with Montec G5s.  I absolutely love my archery set-up.

For gun season, I will use my Marlin .44 Mag lever action with a 3.5x scope that last year dropped a 5.5 year old doe weighing 170 lbs.  I absolutely love my gun set-up.

Can you figure out that I absolutely love deer hunting?

Good shooting.

Glad to talk to all of you, but I'd rather be sitting in a tree stand on a cool morning trying not to move so that the bruiser buck directly below me doesn't figure out that I am watching him!

The firearm options I have are, A Remington 11-87 Premier Cantiliever 12 ga. topped with a Leupold 2x7 shotgun scope, a Knight Disc Extreme, topped with a leupold VX-II 3x9, and lastly, a Winchester 94 in .44 mag. It currently has only open sights.....not sure if I can bring myself to scope it and  take away from the traditional look.

My bow is an AR-34, shooting PSE Carbon Force Dominators tipped with Muzzy 100 grain 3-blade broadheads.

Primary Bow - 60 lb PSE Brute with CE 4560 blazer vane arrows tipped with TR Hematic 100 gr broadheads. Very fast and quite and actually got my first passthrough this year.

Backup Bow - BTR Buckmaster.

ML - CVA Wolf shooting 1 trip7 50 gr load with a 200 grain areotip sabot round. I get great accuracy out to about 80 yards with a light powder charge and light load.

I'm relatively new to Indiana. I got here to Rochester IN in July 2007.I still belong to a hunt club in Sprott Alabama with 977 acres of leased land for 6 of us to hunt.I also have a father in law with an 80 acre farm in Michigan's rifle hunting zone.

Archery rig is a Diamond Rock in 50-60 pound weight shooting Terminator-Lite shafts with Blazer vanes and Muzzy 3 blade 100 grain heads.
Back up bow is a new PSE X-Force in 60-70 pound. Not dialed in just yet

Gun season gives me a choice of :

(1) Remington 870 slug gun shooting Lightfield slugs and wearing a 2 power B Square scope.
(2) My personal favorite, a TC Contender pistol with 14 inch 44 rem Mag barrel with a 2.5 to 7 Simmons
(3) Smith and Wesson .500 Magnum pistol with iron sights (at this time)
(4) CVA Kodiak Muzzle Loader in .45 cal with 3-9 Bushnell scope. Shooting 250 grain Power Belts with
     100 grains of Shockey's Gold
(5)Remington Model 700 BDL in 7mm Mag with 2.5-10 Simmons (Alabama/Michigan deer )
(6)Savage 110 E in 30-06 with Simmons Whitetail 3-9 (Alabama/Michigan deer)

I use a Diamond Black Ice 70#.  Was using XX75s with Muzzy 125 grains.  I'm switching to Carbon Express Maximas for next season.

Wanderer,

I am fairly close by. I hunt northern White and Tippecanoe county. I also know some people who live just outside Rochester. Pretty good looking country around there.

I got a brother-in-law that hunts up around Houghten and Higgins Lake area in Michigan.

Good luck in 2009!
