1st deer of the year.

1st buck of the year down opening day. not big daddy but i sure am proud of whatever i can harvest to fill the freezer cause those antlers cant feed me haha.

The only real difference between a good tracker and a bad tracker is observation. All the same data is present for both. The rest is understanding what you are seeing.

Looks good to me!
I have one that taunts me...Spikes even taller than that, but doesn't meet the "three points on one side" antler restriction that Arkansas has.
He seems to know he's barely not legal.

Congrats. Im still trying to fill my freezer. Tough year.
I only hunt on days that end in ' Y '.

Tell me about it....I'm hoping to get out for the first time this season, this weekend and early next week.

Likewise. I joined a club close to home a bit late in the year. Spent most of bow season "scouting" instead of hunting. The 3 hunts I did get in, I saw deer. Last hunt, I saw four big bucks together feeding on acorns. The stand was a perm one and it was set up perfectly for me to shoot deer coming in off a well used trail to the left...cept these bucks didnt come from the left
They came from the right. It was an open stand and too many eyes look around. I couldnt move. I had to sit and watch. Never spooked em. Today was day one of gun season in Bama. I saw one of the bucks in roughly the same spot but never could get a clear shot. It's like he knew just how to keep that damn tree b/w us. Can't go back this afternoon either. Have a date with the wife......I wish I married a woman that hunted. And congrats on the kill. I am jealous
