Strange things that I have seen in the deer woods

Postby Ohio farms » Wed Oct 30, 2013 1:07 pm

After many years of walking in the woods I have seen some odd things, but this may have been the most confounding. How about you?
It was the day after I had shot my first deer in southeast Ohio. My tag was done so I tagged along with my uncle to his spot. We passed by the gut pile from the deer I shot the day before and another deer had defecated right on top of it. My uncle had no explanation other than that deer may have not gotten along with the others. ;) Any thoughts ?

When the other deer smelled the gut pile and realized that a buddy of his had been murdered, eviscerated, and hauled off to be eaten it scared the *&%! out of him as he wheeled around and ran away?

But seriously, that's crazy. Had to just be random...

Maybe that's a sign of respect in a deer's world. I don't have a clue why.
