I always check mine before the muzzleloader season and it's always been dead on even after I have removed the scope for cleaning.
Keep life simple...if you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras.

On,why take it off.I have a scope on my crossbow I can remove to make adjustments but only for that reason.

The scope is on my muzzleloader and I remove it since I clean the barrel with hot soapy water. Other than on my Thompson I would not remove a scope from my other rifles that I have.
